The Maserati sound is a big part of the car, and it comes partly from active exhaust valves that open and close with the drive mode and revs. When they stick open the car is always loud, when they stick closed it is muted and can feel flat, and the cause is usually the valve actuators, their vacuum or electrical control, or a seized valve, often from heat and age.
